Abstract
Introduction: Students are educated and influential persons in the communities and it is necessary to have suitable quality of life, so this study was done in order to assessing quality of life and related factors in students at Neyshabur University of medical sciences.
Methods: This cross-sectional study was performed among all students of Neyshabur University of medical sciences (220 persons) in 2012. For evaluating quality of life we used the brief version of the WHO's QOL scale (WHOQOL-BREF) in this study. Frequency, percentage, range, mean and standard deviation were used for descriptive statistics. Independent t-test, paired t-test, ANOVA and logistic regression model were used in SPSS16 software to analyze the data.
Results: 64.6% of students were females and 35.4% were males. The mean age of them was 20.78±1.46. The total mean score of students’ quality of life was 13.52±1.57. In four dimensions of quality of life, the lowest mean score was observed in Psychological health domain (12.12±1.48) and the highest was observed in Physical health domain (15.12±2.42). Location was significantly associated with social relationship domain (p=0.031) and overall quality of life (p=0.003) of students.
Conclusions: The findings of this study shown that quality of life of surveyed’ students wasn’t high and the most effective variable was location. So it is necessary to implement appropriate interventions by neyshabur university leaderships in order to remove problems of students that they live in dormitory.
