Background and Objective: The overall purpose of this study was to identify the dimensions of futurism in Mazandaran University of Medical Sciences. The study adopted a mixed approach (qualitative and quantitative) with an exploratory design to conduct the study.
Methods and materials: In the quantitative section, a descriptive survey method was used. The statistical population consisted of 20 persons in the qualitative and 465 in the quantitative section selected from the faculty members, managers and professors at the Mazandaran University of Medical Sciences. According to saturation law, 10 people in the qualitative section were chosen and based on Cochran formula, 210 people were selected by stratified random sampling for the quantitative section. A researcher-made questionnaire with 56 questions was used for data collection. The exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis tests were used to analyze the data.
Results: The face and content validity of the instrument was confirmed by experts and their combined reliability and Cronbach's alpha were calculated above 0.7.
Conclusion: The results showed that futurism has nine dimensions: "responding to community needs, conceptual understanding, adaptation to change, strategic vision, decision making, research talent, empowerment, research support and organizational structure". The highest standard coefficient (0.873) was related to the strategic vision dimension and the lowest standard coefficient (0.554) was related to the decision making dimension.
